Overview
In the Tour de France, the time trial is the race of truth.  It's just you and your bike against the clock.

Total Intensity Sports and Kinetic Cycles are excited to put together a series of time trials for Sacramento cyclists and triathletes.  Held every other Thursday, from May through August, these time trials will give you a chance to test your cycling speed on a flat and fast time trial course.

This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself to a hard bike ride and compare yourself to your friends and others in your age group!!

SERIES POINTS COMPETITION
Again in 2010, we will be having a points competition with the basic rules below
Points for placings at each event will be 10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd and so on through the top 10 places.
Additional points can be made by setting a new personal best. Each week where you break your PR, you get 3 bonus points.
To qualify for the series title, rider must complete at least FIVE events.
Points for each rider's best five events will count towards series competition.
Points in the series finale will count for double (20 for 1st, 18 for 2nd, 16 for 3rd and so on).
Ties will be determined based on the series finale time.

Course Details
Each time trial will be held along the Sacramento River just south of Freeport.  Freeport is located just south of the Pocket Road exit on I-5.  We will start and finish at the drawbridge in Freeport.  Start/finish location is on the east side of the river.
Distance: 10 miles

Description: Road is well paved and runs along the river.  There is one very slight uphill within the first mile (thus, a slight downhill in the last mile on the return of the out-and-back).  The road has a long and very gradual turn just after the 2.5 mile mark (and before the 7.5 mile mark on the return of the out-and-back) which follows the bend in the river. Traffic is generally pretty light.

Weather conditions are typically hot with little wind, or cooler with more wind (10-15 mph usually is the max).  Because the road has the bend in it, you will never have a headwind or tailwind for more than 2.5 miles at a stretch.  If you check out previous results, you'll see the weather conditions on that particular day.

Course Records
Men - Chris Morales, 20.54, 28.7 mph
Women - Heather Pryor, 24.16, 24.6 mph

MAP IS HERE

Directions - 15 minutes from downtown Sacramento.  Take I-5 south of Sacramento to the Pocket/Meadowview Road exit.  Go east to the first major intersection (Freeport Blvd/Route 160) and turn right.  Follow Route 160 south to the drawbridge in the town of Freeport.  There is parking on the right side of the road.  Map to Freeport
