Total Intensity Sports

Intensity, a group of individuals who make sacrifices and strive to reach
their fullest potential as athletes. Team Intensity is a select team of
triathletes and runners who aim to compete in the Regional, National and World
Championship events. Team Intensity athletes have been training with Total
Intensity Sports for at least twelve months and have reached specific
competitive standards in races they've completed in the past eighteen
months.
Team Intensity athletes compete in triathlons, duathlons
and running events of all distances as well as open water swims, marathons, short
and middle distance running races, mountain bike races and triathlons,
cycling races and any other competitive event that offers them a
challenge.
These athletes train smart and
train with intensity!!

Favorite TIS Workout: Track. Always something new, definitely going to be

Favorite Non-training Activity: Bowling. I'm a much better bowler than
triathlete.
Favorite Event: Vineman. It's an awesome event in a gorgeous setting. The
course should be super fast, yet every year it finds a way to destroy me.

Most Admired Athlete: David Zabriskie. A TT specialist, but a complete
dork off the bike.
Your Biggest Motivation to Train/Race: I've never been an athletic or
active person. It's amazing to see what can be accomplished through dedication
and hardwork. And I love all the toys you can buy for your bike.

another race on the horizon is what helps keep me motivated to train harder.

- Lake Stevens 70.3 - my first half Ironman and
with the number of Total Intensity members coming together and sharing a house

strong and healthy. Setting a good example for my kids as they grow up.

weekend; a good hard workout with a fantastic training group!

- Crossing the finish line at the aquathlon world
championship just 5 weeks after surgery to repair my broken wrist (suffered in a
training crash). It was my first non-wetsuit swim and I did it using only one
arm!

don't really follow many athletes - I'm a doer more than a follower, but Lance
Armstrong is pretty inspirational as an athlete; getting through cancer, the
Tour, "retiring", doing a marathon and mountain biking, then going back to his
love of road biking just because...he loves it! Why quit if it's your passion!?
Biggest Motivation to Train/Race: Several reasons: it's a mental therapy for
me, I love having goals, I want to be an inspiration and role model to my
children and, of course, it allows me to eat more chocolate!
Top Three Highlights From 2009:
- Eppie's (first overall female; PR'ing)
- Finishing 1st in my division (or first overall) in
all but one race that I competed in...but most importantly, I felt like I was
ready and on top of my game in nearly every race!
- Feeling like I'm in the best shape of my life

- Eppie's (defending my title)
- Adding a brand new component to racing and
training...learning to swim (literally) and competing in Boulder 70.3.
- Outside of racing: coaching my son's soccer team,
watching him participate and love all sports, and watching my daughter excel in
gymnastics!
