Our Coaching Philosophy
Since starting Total Intensity Sports in 2000, our philosophy has always
been the same. In order to produce the best results, a coaching
program must be personalized. We recognize that every athlete is
unique - no two athletes are alike.
Since every
athlete we coach is different, each program we design must be different.
Absolutely NO two programs are the same.
Our programs aren't simply copied from one athlete to the next and we
don't have "standard" programs to get you to "do your first triathlon in
16 weeks or less!". They simply don't work. Each program we
develop is
specifically tailored to the athlete based on their current fitness
level, available training time and personal goals.
Each athlete is unique...
each program is unique.
That said,
Total
Intensity Sports provides athletes of all ages and levels the highest
level of personal coaching. Whether you are a runner, swimmer, cyclist,
mountain biker or triathlete, we will take you to a higher
level! Our athletes range from beginners to Age Group Champions to
National Champions. They train smart and with intensity!

Overview/Rates
Our training programs
are designed for athletes interested in receiving additional attention
and personalized coaching. We have options for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months in duration as well as discounted rates
for one-on-one sessions and the additional testing and
evaluations we offer.
Although we recommend frequent one-on-one
sessions with your coach, as well as performing certain testing and
evaluations, we leave these as options in order to provide you with a great deal of
flexibility to find the type of program that will fit for your individual
situation and needs. 
If you are outside of the Sacramento
region, we also have online coaching options.

Program Details

Our individual training is for athletes interested in receiving
additional attention and personalized coaching. Our training is flexible
so you can arrange the program to fit your individual needs.
Your Individual Training Program will start with a one-on-one initial
consultation with your coach. Your coach begins this session by
reviewing your completed health and fitness evaluation to determine your
exercise and fitness experience, determine your current fitness level
and assist in developing a your personal training program.
Next, your
coach will review in detail your completed prior year review and goal
assessment to determine what goals your training program will be focused
on achieving. Finally, together with your coach, your personalized
program template will be designed. This template outlines your daily
training regimen, taking into consideration your available training
time, training history to date and personal goals.
Your program begins with bi-weekly workout schedules for you to follow
and includes a complete strength conditioning program. On a monthly
basis, your coach will contact you for a progress review. This helps
maintain communication with your coach throughout your training,
although, you will have unlimited contact with your coach.
You should
feel free to voice any concerns you might have, ask questions regarding
equipment, your daily routine, or anything else that might be on your
mind. We are here for you! We will actively participate throughout your
program motivating, supporting and encouraging you along the way!

Ironman Training
Ironman training and
racing requires you to be a very unique and dedicated athlete. The
distance is something you must respect - you can't fake it on race day.
Whether your goal is to simply get to the finish line, set a personal
best or qualify for Kona, you have to dedicate yourself to your training
and to the event. You must be prepared physically and mentally and
you certainly don't want to leave anything to chance.
We have helped dozens of
athletes train and complete numerous Ironman distance events over last

Our approach to training
and competing in Ironman distance events stays in line with our overall
philosophy. We don't have cookie-cutter training plans. We
only create personalized and individualized training plans which are
custom designed to you, your fitness level, your goals and your life
outside of training.
There are so many things
that can happen on the race day of an Ironman, not to mention all the
things that can happen while you are training for one. Your training
plan needs to be able to adapt to you and all of the things that happen
along the way - the expected and unexpected. We do this for you through
continual contact with your coach which increases as race day
approaches.
Ironman and 70.3
Group Training
We typically have at least fifteen or more athletes training
year-round for Ironmans and/or the 70.3 distance. This means we have a
solid group of athletes you can train with and use as support along the
way.
Additionally, each year we have a destination event - this year it
was Lake Stevens 70.3!

Training Rewards Program
We Reward Our Athletes!
As an effort to reward our athletes for their hard work and
improving their personal best efforts, we offer a fun points
competition with rewards given out each month! Points will
be given to athletes for completing group workout sessions,
improving their times at group time trials, completing
triathlons as well as improving personal bests at races.

At the end of every month, a raffle will be held with all
current Total Intensity Sports athletes. Each point earned will
represent a chance to win the current months raffle. The winner
of the raffle gets gear, sponsor gift certificates and/or other cool stuff. Winners also forfeit all of
their accumulated points at the same time. Points for all other
athletes, however, will be rolled into the next months raffle. Keep
training and improving and your chance of winning a monthly
raffle increases!
